Tiotropium is a long acting anticholinergic agent. It inhibits M3 receptors in the smooth muscle of the bronchus and bronchioles leading to bronchodilatation. It is indicated in the treatment of COPD. It is not indicated for the immediate relief of acute shortness of breath . Side effects include: Dry mouth constipation, urinary retention and others.
